Untitled (Slow Looking), a Squiggla Workshop.
Accompanying A Moment in Time: Dashper, Reynolds, Maddox, Gow Langsford Gallery, 4 Princes Street, Onehunga.
Chair of the Chartwell Charitable Trust, Sue Gardiner, will set the scene with a talk about Chartwell’s history. Then join us for Untitled (Slow Looking), an in-gallery Squiggla workshop where we make sense of the senses through hands-on free flow mark making. As Julian Dashper said “When you look at a good painting you don’t have to work out how or why it was painted, because you are too busy thinking how much sense it makes.” (Pg 13 This is not writing, 2010).
In response to the works in the exhibition, workshop participants will be guided to engage with their senses and explore slow looking, mark making and abstraction through Squiggla’s focus on visual exploration.
